I know many of you are excited about the work taking place at Bayview to equip the campus with the facilities of a modern Christian university. So, I am pleased to provide you with an update on how things are progressing.
The kitchen renovations are forging ahead under the separate work permit we received from the City of Toronto two weeks ago. Existing concrete floors have been cleared away to make room for the installation of conduits and other under-the-floor fixtures, walls have been demolished to create space for new walls, final plans for the exhaust ventilation system are being worked on and new kitchen equipment is being readied for installation once the renovations are done. We couldn’t be more pleased with the way kitchen renovations have been progressing thus far.
In addition to kitchen renovations, our own Facilities staff are busy on the upper floors of the Mother House removing wallpaper, dismantling railings from hallway walls, installing new lighting and getting residence rooms ready for our students. This is an exciting time to see all this work taking place – work that will benefit future generations of women and men who will study, worship and live on the Bayview campus.
On the permit front, all drawings were submitted to the City of Toronto some time ago for their approval. We have been told that two of the major departments have no further questions and have signed off; we are continuing to push the remaining departments to get to the same place! We remain optimistic that we will receive the necessary approvals soon and also the final permits needed to allow us to move ahead with the remaining renovations to the library, classrooms and offices.
Stay tuned for further updates. Thank you everyone for your interest, support and prayers!
